Position Overview
The Senior Manager – Engineering is a full time position responsible for managing the maintenance & service levels of a fleet of automobiles and trucks and production engineering support. Involved in the whole product design lifecycle from the initial concept through to delivery. Should have a combination of engineering and commercial skills in order to deliver projects within budget.

Accountabilities

  • Understanding the current design aspects of the Mobile Clinics and Rural Clinics and producing visual interpretations of automobiles and their components using computer-aided design packages.
  • Ensure all the repairs and maintenance activities are executed according to company’s engineering standards and other applicable codes or standards.
  • Deciding on the most appropriate materials for component production.
  • Applying mechanical, thermodynamic, pneumatic, hydraulic and electrical principles to resolve engineering problems and find appropriate solutions.
  • Provide and demonstrate personal Safety leadership when working out in the field.
  • Working with and communicating with our Biomedical Engineers on-site, to ensure a smooth implementation of all medical devices.
  • Support operations engineering group on any mechanical and related requirements on day-to-day activities.
  • Supervising technicians, technologists and other engineers, in operations and maintenance.
  • Source out and manage qualified Automotive Mechanic Technicians.
  • Liaising with suppliers and handling supply chain management issues.
  • Taking responsibility for individual projects, managing associated budgets, production schedules and resources (including staff), and supervising quality control.
  • Inspecting and even test driving vehicles and checking for faults.

Key Deliverables during First 12 to 24 Months

  • Provide leadership in establishing a strong safety culture within the organization, and with vendors, service providers, and contractors.
  • Innovating, researching and developing new designs for components on automobiles and for manufacturing procedures, with consideration to changing customer needs and government emissions regulations.
  • Preparing material, cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications.
  • Supervising and inspecting the installation, modification and commissioning of mechanical systems in industrial facilities or plants.
  • Investigating mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • Bachelor or Masters degree in Engineering from an APEGA accredited university.
  • 10+ years engineering experience.
  • Ability to coordinate a team for gathering and assessment of relevant information in order develop practical and cost-effective action plans.
  • Familiarity with industry codes and standards.
  • Self-starter with leadership skills is essential; must have a proven initiative in carrying out assignments that require significant effort to identify and resolve.
  • Quick learner.
  • Team player with the ability to partner across various business functions.
  • Strong communicator.
  • Adaptable and flexible with strong organizational and planning skills.
