Position Overview
As Medical Director – Global Response Centre, the candidate is responsible for the development and operations of the Clinical Command Centre (CCC) in the Global Response Centre (GRC) located at Kallo Headquarters in Canada and oversight of operations for all the Clinical Command Centres in the Regional Response Centres (RRC) located in the Teaching hospitals / specialist hospitals in each country of deployment. In addition he / she will be provide leadership and supervisory support for the CCC managers and each of their teams.

Accountabilities

  • Lead and develop the clinical direction of Clinical Command Centres.
  • Keep abreast of emerging models in healthcare delivery: identify and define new and innovative strategies to achieve business goals and objectives.
  • Serves as a clinical subject matter expert for:
    • Clinical content development
    • Clinical content review and approval process
    • Serves as champion of the initiative across all teams
  • Meet regularly with specific health professionals and IT / Biomedical Engineering leads to provide oversight and support; assumes overall responsibility for monitoring overall status of various clinical work stream activities.
  • Lead the Clinical Command Centre team in the GRC, consisting of Doctor, Nurse Practitioner, Pharmacist, Midwife, Biomedical and IT Engineer, Application Specialist.
  • Lead and facilitate clinical advisory groups in the design and/or use of clinical systems to support excellence in patient care and research. Engages care providers with varying roles e.g. specialists, nurse practitioners, nurses, bio-medical, pharmacy, health information managers to contribute to the development and use of the clinical information systems.
  • Develop empathy and understanding of on-the-ground provider needs and builds relationships with them to gain support for IT initiatives and mobile healthcare.
  • Is highly responsive to users’ needs, including training, to assure widespread acceptance and provider use of the clinical systems.
  • Bring input and issues forward to the appropriate team leads and/or other senior staff.
  • Support team leads in seeking feedback and input from identified constituents.
  • With the team leads, provide program updates and communications at staff and executive meetings.
  • Review medical informatics trends, experiences and approaches, develop technical and application implementation strategies and assist in the development of strategic plans for clinical information systems.
  • Work in concert with Information Technology Services (ITS) to design and implement systems supporting patient care and research activities.
  • Direct design of clinical content with physician, nursing and other professionals, and will support design efforts to gain maximum efficacy and support for patient care and research protocols.
  • Lead development of clinical "rules" supporting patient care and protocol research as well as the design of clinical system features supporting protocol management and the use of the system to leverage the clinicians’ time and maximize communication with affiliates and referring physicians.
  • Serve as member of ITS Steering Committee.
  • Lead development and deployment of solutions that cluster information in disease and episodic categories for benchmarking, clinical severity, and variance analysis. Design and evaluate collection of data for clinical purposes, including tracking and interpretation of outcomes.

Key Deliverables during First 12 to 24 Months

  • Define clinical support second opinion process using Telehealth delivery from Clinical Command Centre.
  • Develop and implement Policies and Procedures for clinical support and second opinion.
  • Develop and implement clinical practice guidelines for Doctors, Nurses and Midwives.
  • Develop Gap assessment models for education and training of Doctors, Nurses, Nurse Practitioners and Midwives.
  • Lead the Clinical Transformation Team for Education and Training in all countries where Kallo MobileCare and RuralCare is implemented.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • The Medical Director – Global Response Centre will be a licensed physician with up-to-date certifications and continuing education, and online and/or offline clinical experience.
  • Experience in medical informatics and Telehealth is essential.
  • Possesses excellent interpersonal skills and can work effectively with a diversity of personalities.
  • Must be approachable, show respect for others and be able to present data with effective communication and presentation skills.
  • Must be an effective consensus builder.
  • Possesses good grasp of clinical workflow in both inpatient and outpatient settings, interest in clinical information systems and outcomes measurement.
  • Must have the ability to develop flexible, transferable models for pathways of care.
  • Is a strong leader with a mature sense of priorities and solid practical experience who can design and implement systems within the framework of technical and clinical boundaries.
  • Is politically savvy, has a high tolerance for ambiguity and can work successfully in a matrix management model.
  • Is a systems thinker with strong organizational skills who can pull all the pieces together and deliver on-time and within budget.
  • Is a strong manager who is adaptable and has strong collaborative management style, a creative thinker with high energy and enthusiasm, and a team player who promotes the concepts of people working together versus individual performance.
  • Is a contemporary clinician who understands major trends in healthcare and managed care, and is familiar with point of care products and medical informatics trends and tools.
