Position Overview
Reporting to the Vice President – Finance, the Financial Controller will work closely with the VP to develop and manage the full accounting life cycle for the global business.This is an excellent opportunity to join a dynamic team and to help grow the Finance & Accounting organization.

Accountabilities

  • Manage month-end close
  • Year end audit and financial statement preparation
  • Maintain accounting policies and procedures
  • Commodity and Income Tax filings
  • Intercompany transactions and reconciliations
  • Financial analysis / Variance analysis
  • Reconciliations
  • Internal Controls and Compliance
  • Asset management
  • Inventory management
  • SEC filings
  • Records and contract control
  • Supervision of AP, Credit and Collections, Payroll and general accounting
  • Participate in the preparation of the annual operating budget, including the revenue, expense and capital expenditures
  • Key accounting contact for all functional areas of the organization

Key Deliverables during First 12 to 24 Months

  • Assist in the selection and implementation of an integrated software solution
  • Develop month end closing process with accounting calendar
  • Establish a contract management system for suppliers and other obligations
  • Assist company leadership in the annual budgeting and planning process
  • Develop and document business processes and accounting policies to maintain and strengthen internal controls

Qualifications and Requirements

  • University degree in Business/Accounting and professional designation - CPA (CMA, CGA, CA)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience
  • Strong communication skills and strong team player
  • Experience in complex accounting and management reporting model (Costing, project profitability) is an asset
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • Attention to detail and accuracy of reporting / analysis is critical
  • Experience with a multinational organization.
  • Ability to prioritize and effectively execute tasks in a high-pressure environment is crucial
  • Organizational, planning, information gathering and monitoring skills.
  • Experience with start-up or early stage company is an asset
  • Experience with system implementation is an asset
  • Experience with M&A integration is an asset
